“… this abstract jazz trio was fronted by a very unusual scatting stylist, flitting around in front of a pared-down backing band of just a Hammond organ and an array of drums. She´s surely set for stardom.” - Martin Longley, The Independent
The music of KOBERT is both simple and complex. Sometimes beautiful, sometimes harsh, it offers no easy solutions, yet it sounds eloquent.
With its unusual instrumentation – consisting of vocals, organ and drums – KOBERT has created their own musical universe, distinguished by original melodies and adventurous sounds.
With two previous releases, KOBERT has entered a new era as a band, with its third record “Invasion of Privacy” (2009). All the tunes have been composed along the way while they were recorded in studio, resulting in a unique blend of composition and improvisation that retains the immediacy of live performance even as the arrangements and the sound are perfected. The lineup of vocals, organ and drums are accompanied by their electronic counterparts – vocal sampler, drum machine and an array of synthesizers. This makes “Invasion of Privacy” the most complete recording from KOBERT thus far, with references to both electronic pop music and acoustic jazz, combined in their own, distinctive way.
